A Day In A Life | August Edition
A Designer’s Diary: August Adventures and Inspirations
Dear Readers of A.D.O.A.I.D,
August was a whirlwind of creativity, connection, and accomplishment. As a designer, no two days are ever the same, and last month was a perfect example of the dynamic nature of this profession.
I embarked on several exciting projects, ranging from simple consultations for window treatments and property staging to a full-scale interior design project for a townhouse and commercial unit in St. John’s Wood. With our client based in Dubai, the project involved seamless communication across time zones via email, messages, and in-person meetings during their UK visits.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of site visits and installations, I found myself working from charming little cafes dotted around London. These cozy spaces became my creative havens, providing the perfect change of scenery to clear my mind and spark fresh ideas.
One of my favorite moments last month was creating a video reel titled ‘A Day In A Life – August Edition’. This less-than-a-minute snapshot captured the vibrant rhythm of my daily activities, from site visits to sourcing inspiration and materials.
A Visit to Chelsea Harbour Design Centre
A highlight of August was a trip to the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre with my clients. This iconic destination is a treasure trove for interior designers and anyone seeking inspiration for residential or commercial projects.
Lighting Exploration at Vaughan Showroom: We selected stunning fixtures for both the townhouse and a shopping mall project.
Textured Wallpaper at Arte International: Perfect options for a powder room.
Bathroom Fittings at ABI Interiors: Sleek and functional choices to elevate the designs.
Inspiration Galore: We explored numerous other showrooms, soaking in ideas to bring our projects to life.
Back in the studio, I focused on updating design drawings, ordering samples, and meticulously assembling sample trays for upcoming meetings. These small yet vital steps ensure that every project detail aligns with the client’s vision.
Looking Ahead
As I reflect on August, I feel fulfilled and energized for the months ahead. The journey of being a small business owner and interior designer is ever-evolving, filled with challenges, triumphs, and endless opportunities for growth.
Thank you for joining me on this creative journey. I hope my diary entries continue to inspire you, whether you’re an aspiring designer, a seasoned professional, or someone who simply loves the world of interiors. Here’s to an exciting and productive September!
